The inner planets repeatedly set off the outer planet arrow that reformed in April. When Uranus returned to Gemini, it completed the small triangle it created with Neptune and Pluto in the summer of 2025. The inner planets trigger that outer planet arrow in three different ways this Fall. First, the inner planets oppose Neptune, the tip of the arrow. Second, Mars opposes Pluto remaking this summer’s Barbault Basket. Third, planets oppose Uranus linking up to form a basket from the other direction. Here’s a quick summary before a detailed look at each planet involved.

The Outer Planet Arrow
Pluto has traveled the first five degrees of Aquarius for 2 years, focusing power struggles in technological areas, especially the accumulation of electronic data and the use of AI. While Pluto in Aquarius transforms our approach to technology over 20 years, the arrow it forms with the other outer planets brings the most intensity.
In January, Neptune returned to Aries to stay for 12 more years. The planet of belief glorifies war in the martial sign of Aries, using its boundaryless approach to uniting people through conflict and conquest. Urgency supersedes accuracy. In Aries, Neptune rushes towards the radiant future it believes awaits it. Certainly boring facts aren’t enough to stop the push forward.
Uranus reentered Gemini in April creating the outer planets into their second tight arrow formation. The planet that rules surprises creates whirlwinds in the quick changing sign of the Twins. With the support of Pluto in technological Aquarius as well as Neptune in aggressive Aries, the winds of change blow strong and hot. It will be 2 years before Uranus travels far enough into Gemini to release the arrow formation. Uranus in Gemini continues to separate people into opposing sides without as much impact from 2028 to 2033.

The Inner Planets form the Bow
With the outer planets form an arrow pointed at the start of Aries, as planets enter Libra they oppose the tip of the arrow creating a bow that lends its strength to the arrow. Not only will the planets in Libra oppose Neptune, they will trine both Uranus and Pluto. The formal name for this shape is a Grand Kyte. Instead of looking at each of the 6 individual planetary interactions, let’s look at what qualities emerge when each inner planet fires the outer planet arrow.

Mercury raises the volume of the storm as it launches the outer planet arrow in September. The planet of communication rapid fires stories as well as facts as it reveals secrets and inspires rebellion. Mercury handles Libra’s balance well enough, although the loss of details and decisiveness from being in its home sign of Virgo are sorely missed. Mercury gives voice to the distrust erupting from Uranus’ revolutionary fever combined with Pluto’s paranoia. With Neptune’s belief unaltered by facts, expect conspiracy theories and wild fantasies. Mercury is joined by the Moon while firing the arrow, generating more emotion than the talking planet can handle.
The Sun struggles to draw the bow recently used by Mercury as it enters Libra on the Fall Equinox. With the beginning of longer nights than days, the Sun’s fading power allows more room to balance self-needs with other’s needs. The uncomfortable Sun wrestles with relationships and self-consciousness, less able to find the needed balance than its usual brilliant authenticity. With the disadvantaged Sun, the outer planets charge continues without the bright light of reason to question its speed. Making the pace even more intense, Mars starts its turn triggering the outer planet arrow before the Sun finishes.
Surprise! The Moon has more than one turn at the bow. The lunar cycle moves quickly, circling the Zodiac every month and allowing the her to grab the bow for half a day each month during the many years the outer planet arrow is in formation. Most of those transits result in a couple hours of emotional reaction to the generational changes created by the outer planet arrow. When the Moon combines with another planet, the impact is bigger than the sum of its parts. Each type of trigger has this happen once. In September when Mercury draws the bow, the Moon joins the fight. Bigger than expected feelings come from the language used. While the volume has an oversized impact on the mood.
Mars remakes the Barbault Basket
When a planet opposes the sides of the arrow, a basket-like shape is formed. Astrologer André Barbault wrote so extensively about this July’s formation, we call it the Barbault Basket. The most powerful impact came in July when not only were the outer planets all at 4 degrees of their sign, but Jupiter was also at 4 degrees of Leo. Jupiter, just like Saturn did last year, has a bigger impact then the faster moving inner planet. This Fall, Mars brings intense heat and hostility to the outer planets as it imitates the Barbault Basket.

Mars enters Leo and begins forming the Barbault Basket before the Sun is finished firing the outer planet arrow so the confusion and clashes from the end of September will bleed into the battles of early October. Mars, the planet of war, forces unique reactions from each of the outer planets. Mars sparks the rebellions of Uranus. Mars and Neptune create the fog of war. Pluto’s intensity pushes Mars past conquering into utter destruction. Combined they create conflict and chaos beyond expectations.
The Moon repeats her place in the original Barbault Basket every month. Only in October will she find the support of another planet during her monthly trip through Leo. With Mars and the Moon teaming up, expect more intense passions and defensive responses. Emotional reactions are more likely to erupt in physical symptoms. Have your heartburn meds handy and keep an eye on your blood pressure around the beginning of October.
The Basket from the other side of the Outer Planets
The Barbault Basket formed when Jupiter in early Leo linked up with the outer planets. This Fall, planets in early Sagittarius will oppose Gemini in Uranus to turn the outer planet arrow into a different type of basket. Interestingly, both the Sun and Mercury form baskets during the two lunations that happen with the Sun in Sagittarius.

The Sun in early Sagittarius opposes Uranus to complete the basket formation just as the Moon joins Uranus. This year’s Gemini New Moon carries the weight of the generational changes that have been brewing since the outer planet arrow reformed in April. While the Barbault Basket claimed Leo’s center stage, this basket prefers to hit and run. Sagittarius refuses to stop traveling or exploring so expect the focus not on leaders but on movement and knowledge.
Once again, Mercury tangles with the outer planets and life gets extra loud. Expect media confrontations, gossip and difficulties communicating clearly. Mercury struggles for words in action-oriented Sagittarius, even as it rejoices in leaving its recent retrograde in Scorpio behind. Reports won’t be able to keep up with the pace of events, so focus on what’s happening and wait to discuss it. You may find yourself needing to show rather than tell if you want to get your message across. This basket forms during the Sagittarius New Moon. Allow yourself to imagine all the places you want to go, despite the impossibility of traveling there during this season.
Although the Moon opposes rather than supports the Sun while it forms a basket, she definitely impacts the mood. The Full Moon in all her glory shares all the feels just before Thanksgiving. The desire to talk competes with the need to keep moving which adds a tension to the preparations. During the last basket of the year, Mercury takes the hot seat opposing Uranus. While the Sag New Moon places the Sun and Moon far enough away not affect their basket, the conflicting energy will plant a desire to escape. Make a plan to get away, someday.
How long does this last?
Here’s a quick summary of the date each planet exactly forms a shape. Expect to feel the impact for 3 to 5 days before and after each date listed. In late September, the Sun will still be linked to the outer planets when Mars enters Leo to kick off its basket. The rest of the formations will rise and fall on their own.

The rest of the planets
The above charts don’t show the placement of the planets not making bows or baskets this Fall. For some of them, that just means their turns came before or after the 4 months covered here. Please don’t think those planets aren’t impacting us. Venus, for example, completed the basket and bow formations over the summer. She spends the Fall in Libra and Scorpio wandering in the dessert of her past relationships for 40 days. Venus is certainly contributing to a challenging vibe but we’ll feel her focus more in personal matters rather than generational themes.
