Visions and vague conversations will distract rather than inform us for 2 months while Mercury wanders in the sign of dreams. How to cope with Mercury at its worst in Pisces? Here’s some tips for before, during and after this transit.
Before February 6th
Take care of details, plans and communication that needs to be precise. This first week of February may not be smooth but it will be very clear. Mercury squares Uranus adding surprises and turning up the volume on shocking revelations. Get things done now before the coming retrograde and super extended time of Mercury in fall in Pisces.

During Mercury in Pisces ~ Feb 6th to April 14th
Mercury in Pisces (or any water sign) triggers emotional reactions more than offers clear information. Expect an increase in intuition that is harder to put into words. This entire time will be more about the vibe than the details which is much better for art than for planning. Luckily, Venus will also be in Pisces for the first month offering a great time for artistic expression through March 6th. While Venus starts her delights on February 10th, we’ll feel the biggest peak around February 28th when she conjuncts Mercury. Expect strong urges to indulgence and avoid the messy world.
The vague communication will get worse from February 11th to 26th when the fastest planet starts to slow down. The delays are inevitable and will easily cause hurt feelings. Hints about bigger problems need immediate attention as complete information won’t be easily found. Don’t wait until you have all the facts, go find them. This is also the time period that other planets are creating the drama and change, especially the Aquarius Solar Eclipse and the Saturn / Neptune conjunction in Aries.

The biggest mix ups happen the day before, the day of and the day after Mercury turns retrograde. Old issues, past hurts and problems you thought solved are likely to need attention. With Venus trying to help, look for lucky breaks when planning fails. The first boost to soothing hurt feelings happens on February 28th, just after the worst of the chaos. That is followed by one of the better Virgo Lunar Eclipse on March 3rd. The best day for clearing up misunderstandings is March 7th when the Sun shines through the fog of Mercury’s retrograde.
One of the worst days for hurt feelings from fuzzy and frustrated communications comes on March 15th when Mercury Rx meets Mars. These two planets connected on January 18th giving voice to determination and fostering long term change. The third and final one comes in April. Break ups that happen during a Mercury Rx are often not final until after the planet of plans goes direct. This hookup is more about emotional processing and misplaced bitterness before the bigger shifts that April brings.
A second burst of mix ups happen around March 20th when Mercury appears to stand still and turn forward again. This stationing direct happens on top of the North Node, increasing the intensity and impact on our future. That same day, the Sun enters Aries giving us the first day of spring and an energy boost.
The urge to take action and clean up the mess created by Mercury Rx will begin to grow as Mercury picks up speed. It will take 3 weeks for Mercury to return to normal speed and only a few days after that for the planet of communication to enter Aries.
After Mercury leaves Pisces
When Mercury enters Aries, it will be joining 6 other planets in the first and fastest sign of the Zodiac. Mercury will connect with 5 of those planets during the 3 weeks it zips through Aries. First it meets the Moon and talk about what we desire peaks. Then Neptune and dreams are discussed.
The final time the planets of conflict and communication meet this year is April 19th and 20th. Not only is Mercury hooking up with Mars, but Saturn is also sharing the same degree. These 3 planets together are explosive, loud and clear about the endings they execute. Expect fireworks along with more permanent changes. Mars and Saturn may create an energy of hurry up and wait as the don’t agree about the ending being hot or cold. Mercury will be sure to loudly share each step of the journey.
The final Mercury conjunction in Aries is with Chiron, the Wounded Healer. May 1st is a great day to journal about old issues and the actions you can take to make a difference. Chiron helps us reflect even in Aries that prefers us to act. The week before this conjunction, Uranus will enter Mercury’s home sign of Gemini increasing the speed of change in areas that involve communication.
