Summer Solstice

The names and dates of the 8 Solar Holidays are placed around the wheel of the year on the 8 points of a star.

The Eight Solar Holidays

Ancient cultures celebrated 8 Solar Holidays over the course of a year. Half of those Solar Holidays are still acknowledged as the beginning of each of the 4 seasons which divide the year into 4 equal parts giving rise to the name Quarter Holidays. Not surprisingly, the 4 celebrations that are celebrated halfway between the start of the 4 seasons are called Cross Quarter Days.

Mid-Summer Celebrations

Whether you are celebrating a wedding, St John’s Day, or the Summer Solstice, may an abundance of blessings surround you on the longest day of the year.

Summer Solstice Eclipse

While we are bursting with the need to nurture and be nurtured, the eclipse leaves us feeling the child’s desire to be loved more than the parental longing to care for others. Into this already emotional tension comes the saturnine discipline trying to place societal limits on our teary inner child.
